Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is mainly a chronic illness of the gastro-intestinal system, whose cause is still unknown in the medical profession. Research elsewhere in the world reveals that it normally affects about a fifth of the population and runs a chronic course with periods of normality and periods of suffering from mainly abdominal symptoms like abdominal pains, bloating, flatulence, constipation and diarrhoea.
